NEW ERA? – 75 Years Since the End of the War
The exhibition “NEW ERA? – 75 Years Since the End of the War” presents three photo archives: the photographs by an unknown German soldier entering Warsaw in autumn 1939, images by the bauhaus affiliated photographer Dieter Keller from the Ukrainian front in 1941/42, and images by the Russian front photographer Valery Faminsky of the liberation of Berlin and the first peace days in the city.
The exhibition creates a line of suspense between the beginning and end of the war. The photos show the break in civilization that war always embodies. The consequences are then as now visible. Wars were not: they are!
